Leaders across health care systems are required to implement, manage and sustain “effective compliance” programs. The Office of Inspector General has begun its enforcement of mandate compliance program requirements set forth in the Affordable Care Act. Compliance Programs are purposeful, well designed, and ongoing efforts which must form the basis of any organization’s culture and management systems, which protect an organization by detecting and preventing improper conduct and promoting adherence to the organization’s legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations. APHCA’s Compliance Academy will review elements required for effective compliance and provide evaluation tools that can be used to establish and track compliance activities. Additionally, the Academy will review specific areas of high risks for health centers. Through a case study approach, participants will engage in the review of risk areas and the development of related work plan components to minimize risks in these areas.  The full day of training has been designed for health care leaders, managers, compliance officers, providers, board members, and others to enhance the level of understanding of required compliance program standards, compliance risk areas, and the development, implementation, support, and ongoing oversight of compliance related activities.
