In addition to the 120 community health centers providing primary care services across Alabama, APHCA represents various specialty centers that include sickle cell organizaitons, HIV/AIDS centers, a comprehensive wellness center and a health education center.
Sickle cell centers are non-profit organizations supported by state funds and private donations established to provide services to sickle cell anemia in Alabama. Centers offer community screening progams, genetic counseling, education, tutorial programs for children with sickle cell anemia, outpatient medical care, social services and nutritional counseling. APHCA represents the Sickle Cell Foundation of Greater Montgomery and the Southeast Alabama Sickle Cell Association.
HIV/AIDS centers are non-profit organizations focused on providing primary medical care, substance abuse treatment and prevention, mental health treatment, case management and other services to individuals with HIV/AIDS. APHCA represents the Health Sevices Center of Alabama.
The Montgomery Area Community Wellness Coalition is a community managed, non-profit organization of health and human service providers who share information and coordinate services to enhance quality and efficiency of services offered throughout the Montgomery River Region.
The Tuskegee Area Health Education Center provides Alabama with continuing education programs for health care providers, diverse manpower training for health care providers and participates in special projects designed to better inform and education Alabama citizens of health and wellness.
